Saddle up! As soon as you've booked your stay in one of Vacation Broken Bow Lake's fine rental cabins, reserve your ride and rental horses at nearby A to Z Guest Ranch, just north of Broken Bow. Under the friendly guidance of an experienced wrangler, happy trails are ahead - true mountain horseback trails that wend their way through the breathtaking Kiamichi Mountains. Add real adventure to your vacation and take home memories of a trusty horse and the lulling music of hoof beats, fresh air deeply breathed, a cold creek forded and panoramic views of unforgettable natural beauty!

Whole Family Fun:  You will find a Christian, family atmosphere if you book your guided horseback ride with A to Z Guest Ranch. Beginners are welcome and will be provided with gentle, well-trained horses. Children must be six years and up, and riders must weigh less than 300 pounds. Owners, Andy and Zondra Lewis, pride themselves on maintaining a fun and comfortable environment. The children in your party will love getting to know their horses, and women's groups value the safe, respectful atmosphere of the trail. Each ride can accommodate up to 10 guests.

4 Horseback Riding Options: Guided rides from one to four hours are offered. The shortest ride is the easiest, taking you through timber and creek beds. The longest trip includes steep trails, water crossings and stunning mountain vistas. Professional chef, Zondra Lewis, creates a saddlebag lunch for all riders for this deluxe four hour ride that might include gourmet deli sandwiches or shake-it-up chef salads and wonderful cookies. Plenty of cold bottled water is always provided.

4 Seasons To Be Enjoyed:  See the very best of Southeastern Oklahoma in all seasons. Spring horseback riding is made especially lovely by the Kiamichi Mountains' blooming dogwoods, redbuds and azaleas. Summer rides are scheduled to make the most of cooler mornings and evenings. See the thrilling color of the hardwoods in fall or pine boughs laden with fresh snow in winter. As you ride the trails, you will be in direct touch with the natural spirit of the land in its ever-changing beauty.

Dress Right For The Ride:
Wear sturdy pants - no shorts - to protect your legs. Boots with a heel are a smart footwear choice, but you can wear closed tennis shoes, too, provided that they have a closed toe and closed heel. A hat and sunglasses may make your horseback ride more comfortable, and wear a warm jacket or hoodie in cold weather. Children will be provided with a mandatory safety helmet. Don't forget your camera!

Directions To The Ranch: A to Z Guest Ranch is located at 64599 Ashby Road in Smithville, Oklahoma. To get to the ranch from Beaver's Bend State Park, get on 259 North. Pass Highway 4 at Smithville. Then pass Junction 144. Cross Cucumber Creek. 7/8 of a mile past the creek, you will see a blue highway sign. Slow down. The next left hand turn is the turn onto Ashby Road. Follow Ashby for one mile until you find the big white-painted boulder with the red arrow. Plan to allow about an hour total for driving to the ranch and checking in prior to your reserved riding time.

About The Owners:
Andy and Zondra Lewis consider their work to be a ministry. They want your family to have a meaningful opportunity to slow down and really enjoy one another while you are riding together. This gifted couple has an inspiring story to share about how a diagnosis of illness brought them closer together and closer to God. Zondra grew up around horses she loved and Andy is a city boy turned true blue wrangler. Of their mission, the Lewis' say, "Come as a guest but leave as a family friend!" Thanks to A to Z Guest Ranch's welcoming owners, wonderful horses and exceptional trails, you are certain to enjoy a spirited, fun-loving time on your horseback ride, but you may also find just the right place amid the Kiamichis to reflect on the things that matter most in life.
